Coffee in Johannesburg

November 18, 2012

For my latest trip to Johannesburg, I had a few simple goals; visit a bunch of art galleries and drink really good coffee. I had already left Malawi and as I departed the Blantyre airport I had regrets of not picking up Malawian coffee beans. When I walked into Double Shot in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, I was absolutely delighted to see coffee from Malawi.

We initially went to Braamfontein because we had heard about a few pop-up stores in the area. As we got to meet the locals, everyone kept telling us about Double Shot. The guys at this coffee shop brewed two amazing cups of coffee. When I am traveling, my best memories are usually from me sitting at a coffeeshop and people watching. I can go to as may touristy places, but my time is best spent taking it a little slower and taking in a new city. Double shot was perfect for that.

The view

I sat at a bench facing the window and this was the view. I noticed that a few people were doing the same on the 5th floor.

Coffee from Malawi!

I have never been to South America. I have always wanted to go there and my passport is ready for new stamps.

OH, either somewhere in South America OR Iceland. Freakin’ Iceland.
