Lantern

Brian and Diana lighting a paper lantern to welcome the New Year at the easternmost point of Michigan. The smoke on the right is from a failed attempt at trying to make a fire. The wind was frigid but the memories will always warm our hearts. Yeah, that is a little mushiness for you.

A few moments after this photo my film camera locked up because of how cold it was.

These paper lanterns are so fun to photograph and it is always better to shoot them when there is a little light around because it draws your eyes to the context. Even more importantly I am just blown away by how this film captured the color depth. Enjoy the full spectrum.

Camera: Canon AE-1
Film: Kodak Porta 800 Pushed 1 stop
Lab: Indie Film Lab

Any thoughts?

You’re making me want to buy a film camera. The feel of these are great, I never understood why people are so dead set on having no noise/grain in their photos.

Jason, you can totally borrow mine to see how you like it. I promise you will be addicted.
Also, keep your eyes peeled for a photo I took of you with the Mamiya.
